Dumping near Carefree Highway cleaned up

Earlier this year, Arizona State Trust Land near Carefree Highway was experiencing illegal camping and homelessness, as well as illegal dumping and littering.

While it is not an uncommon place to camp and it is allowed with a permit, officials said there has been more activity in that area recently.

Peoria Police spokesman Kristopher Babros said several officers conducted an off-road desert detail near State Route 74 and New River Road during the month of June.
