Drugs on way from Phoenix to Denver seized near Fort McDowell: DPS

A 25-year-old man has been booked on drug charges following his arrest near Fort McDowell where authorities said nearly 200 pounds of fentanyl and meth were found in his car.

An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a Honda Accord shortly after 10 p.m. on Aug. 31 for a nonmoving violation on northboound State Route 87, according to a release.

The trooper "observed several indications of criminal activity during the stop," officials said, and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 109.6 pounds of methamphetamine and 80.9 pounds of fentanyl pills hidden in suitcases.

A 25-year-old man has been booked on drug charges following his arrest near Fort McDowell where authorities said nearly 200 pounds of fentanyl and meth were found in his car.

The trooper "observed several indications of criminal activity during the stop," officials said, and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 109.6 pounds of methamphetamine and 80.9 pounds of fentanyl pills hidden in suitcases.

Investigators said they believe the drugs were being transported from Phoenix to the Denver area.

Jorge Baldovinos-Jimenez was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges including possession and transportation of a dangerous drug for sale and possession and transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, according to DPS.
