Drivers urged to plan for March 1-3 closure of SR 143 section

PHOENIX – Northbound State Route 143 will be closed this weekend between Interstate 10 and Loop 202, state transportation officials announced Thursday.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for detours from 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1, to 4 a.m. Monday, March 3, for a traffic shift. At the same time, the following will be closed: 

  • The I-10 ramps to northbound SR 143.
  • The northbound SR 143 on-ramp at University Drive.
  • Northbound 48th Street between Broadway Road and I-10.

PHOENIX – Northbound State Route 143 will be closed this weekend between Interstate 10 and Loop 202, state transportation officials announced Thursday.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for detours from 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1, to 4 a.m. Monday, March 3, for a traffic shift. At the same time, the following will be closed: 

  • The I-10 ramps to northbound SR 143.
  • The northbound SR 143 on-ramp at University Drive.
  • Northbound 48th Street between Broadway Road and I-10.

Westbound I-10 detour: Use westbound I-10 to eastbound Loop 202 to reach southbound SR 143. 

Eastbound I-10 detour: Use eastbound I-10 to eastbound US 60 to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to westbound Loop 202 to access southbound SR 143. 

Those traveling on southbound I-17, westbound I-10 and westbound US 60 who are heading to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport should use westbound I-10 to access the airport entrances at 24th Street or Buckeye Road, or use the Sky Harbor Boulevard entrance from the Loop 202, according to ADOT.
