Drivers falling short on roadside safety, new AAA report shows

Most drivers say they slow down or move over when approaching vehicles stopped along the roadside, but observational research suggests actual behavior falls well short of those claims, according to a new survey conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

AAA released the findings ahead of National Slow Down, Move Over Day on Oct. 17.

More than 90% of drivers surveyed reported moving over, slowing down or both the last time they passed a disabled vehicle, tow truck or police vehicle on the shoulder.
