Driver arrested in Avondale collision that killed girl
The Avondale Police Department arrested the driver of one of the vehicles involved in a fatal crash.
The driver, Tollie Matthews, 54, was booked into a Maricopa County jail Thursday on counts of reckless manslaughter, aggravated assault and aggravated DUI.
Police identified the deceased as a juvenile female and will not release her name at this time.

Driver arrested in Avondale collision that killed girl

The Avondale Police Department arrested the driver of one of the vehicles involved in a fatal crash.
The driver, Tollie Matthews, 54, was booked into a Maricopa County jail Thursday on counts of reckless manslaughter, aggravated assault and aggravated DUI.
Police identified the deceased as a juvenile female and will not release her name at this time.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Thursday near Dysart and Thomas roads. Avondale police said four vehicles were involved, resulting in the one fatality.
Medical crews transported three other people to the hospital.
One person remains in critical condition at the hospital, police said Friday afternoon.
All other injuries were non-life threatening.
The crash closed Dysart Road between Thomas and Indian School roads well into the night. Avondale tweeted the roads reopening around 11:55 p.m.
