Dr. James Kimmel awarded Best Vet in the Valley Award by Sassy Cats TNR
Posted
On March 15, Sassy Cats TNR, a non-profit organization that works to reduce the feral cat population, presented its “Best Vet in the Valley” award to Scottsdale-based Dr. James Kimmel.
Dr Kimmel, and his staff at Quail Crossing Animal Hospital, were recognized for the outstanding service that they provide to rescues, refuges and trap, neuter, return groups across the Valley. Dr. Kimmel is one of only a few full-service veterinarians that will provide services to feral cats, according to a press release.
Most feral cats are not used to human touch and must be trapped and often sedated for treatment. Dr. Kimmel is often referred to as a Cat Whisperer in the local area by TNR and rescue groups, the press release stated.
Sassy Cats TNR is a 501(c)3 non-profit headquartered in Surprise. The organization’s main purpose is to provide Trap, Neuter, Return services to people who are unable to manage this work on their own. Trap - Neuter - Return is recognized globally as the most humane and effective way to control the massive populations of feral cats.
These cats are all descended from pet cats who were either abandoned or got lost at some point. By providing low-cost neutering services, this growth can be controlled.
