OrthoArizona has announced that orthopedic spine specialist Dr. James Hawkins has joined its Avondale and JCL North Mountain locations.

Dr. Hawkins specializes in conditions of the back, neck, leg and arm pain related to pathology in the spine, according to OrthoArizona.

“I am excited to join such a strong and diverse orthopedic team as OrthoArizona, that is focused on competent, complete and compassionate care of their patients,” Dr. Hawkins said.

OrthoArizona is among the largest orthopedic groups in the Valley and Dr. Hawkins is the practice's seventh orthopedic spine specialist.

He has a background in mechanical engineering, having attended Cal Poly as an undergraduate student before earning his graduate degree from Northwestern in Mechanical Engineering. 

Dr. Hawkins received his M.D. from the Baylor College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at the Phoenix Orthopaedic Residency Program and then went on to receive advanced specialized training in a spine fellowship at the San Francisco Spine Institute.

Dr. Hawkins served as the founder and practice manager at Arizona Spine Care, caring for over 3,000 patients and performing 250 surgeries and pain procedures per year and concurrently served as an orthopedic and spine surgeon at the Phoenix Veteran Affairs Medical Center.

The OrthoArizona Avondale office is located at 10450 W. McDowell Road #102 and the JCL North Mountain location is at 9327 N. Third Street Ste. 300.
