A 27-year-old man was booked into Pinal County jail after drugs were found inside a truck during an Arizona Department of Public Safety traffic stop in Pinal County, authorities said Wednesday.

The driver, 27-year-old Alonso Martinez-Zepeda, of Sinaloa, Mexico, was arrested on charges including possession and transportation of a narcotic drug for sale.

Troopers said they found about 51 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills concealed in the truck.

The suspect was pulled over on Aug. 3 for a non-moving violation on westbound Interstate 10 in Eloy, DPS officials said, adding the trooper who made the stop “observed several indicators of criminal activity.”

Investigators said they believe the pills were being transported from Nogales, Mexico, to the Phoenix area.
