DPS arrests Phoenix man suspected of smuggling drugs from Mexico to Valley
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has arrested a 20-year-old man who authorities say attempted to smuggle drugs from Nogales, Mexico, to Phoenix.
On Aug. 24, a DPS trooper stopped the driver of a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta sedan for moving violations on westbound Interstate 10 near Red Rock.
During the traffic stop, according to a DPS release, “the trooper observed multiple indicators of criminal activity.”

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has arrested a 20-year-old man who authorities say attempted to smuggle drugs from Nogales, Mexico, to Phoenix.
On Aug. 24, a DPS trooper stopped the driver of a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta sedan for moving violations on westbound Interstate 10 near Red Rock.
During the traffic stop, according to a DPS release, “the trooper observed multiple indicators of criminal activity.”
A search of the car led to the discovery of approximately 46 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills concealed throughout the vehicle, DPS officials said.
Izayah D. Ocasio of Phoenix was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges including possession, transportation and sale of narcotic drugs, authorities said.
