Dovie Mae DeFir

Posted
SCOTTSDALE - Dovie Mae DeFir was born Feb. 16,1938 in Fort Smith, Ark. She went home on Feb. 27, 2015 surrounded by three generations of her family. She was blessed to be so loved. We were blessed to have loved her. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Kuyasa) Cascio, (Mike) Julia McCalmont (Bill), Rebecca Meola (Peter), John Kuyasa, Anna (Kuyasa) Lindblad; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Dovie worked at Ernie's Inn and Denny's for many years. Her customers were her friends. They would often wait for her station to open-up if it was full, just so they could spend time with her. She loved serving them and ensuring they were happy and had a gift for making them feel special. Her loving heart was felt by everyone who had the pleasure of encountering her, even if it was even for a brief moment. Her two favorite things to do were shopping at thrift stores and baking. Everyone always appreciated the treasures she bought and especially her baking. You knew she appreciated you if you received one of her baked goodies. Her greatest achievements were her five children. Her family was everything to her; they were always in her thought and actions. Rest in peace mama. A private celebration is being held for family only. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Comprehensive Hospice and Palliative Care 2111 E. Highland Ave B425 Phoenix Arizona 85016 in memory of Dovie DeFir. They made all the difference in the world in helping Dovie in her final months. Their generosity and kindness were genuine and were felt by Dovie and her family.
