Douglas Ray Anderson, 75, passed away September 14, 2026, leaving behind a life defined not only by accomplishment, but by the love, laughter, and security he gave so freely to others. Born February 20, 1951, in Columbus, Indiana to Marietta and Roy Anderson, Doug was the eldest of five brothers and grew into a man whose presence made people feel safe, welcomed, and cared for.
He proudly served in the US Air Force & Air National Guard, attended UofA and ASU, earned his Bachelor of Science in 1987. His professional career as a CPA began in 1988 as he worked for the City of Phoenix at Sky Harbor International, where he eventually retired. Yet, his greatest legacy was never measured by titles but by the connections he made and the hearts that he touched.
Doug loved knowledge, music, nature, and family. His remarkable mind and memory, endless curiosity, and gift for recollection made him a beloved source of wisdom and stories. His booming, joyful laugh, warm and unmistakable, could fill a room and lift every heart in it.
He is survived by the love of his life, his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Susan; brothers Phil, Richard, Tyler & Rory; children Stacey & Matthew-Dean; grandchildren Brittania, Christian, Wesley, Shelby, Kiera, Eleanor, & Liam; and great-granddaughters Charlotte & Evelyn. As well as by childhood friends Alan and Nancy. His unforgettable wisdom, protective demeanor, comforting essence, and unconditional love will remain with them always, persevering in every generation ahead. He will be missed.
