Douglas Donald Hantke

SUN CITY - Douglas Donald "Bud" Hantke passed away on Jan. 19, 2017. He was born on April 1, 1932 to Hazel Schultz and Tony Hantke in Neillsville, Wisc. He graduated from the Neillsville HS in 1950 and served in the elite cryptographic intelligence branch of the United States Air Force stationed in Germany from 1951 thru 1955. He married Opal Woodford on Feb. 4, 1956 in Maquoketa, Iowa. In 1958, he graduated from Spencerian College in Milwaukee, Wisc., with an accounting degree. He began with the Internal Revenue Service shortly thereafter and eventually rose to the Chief of the Examination Division in Minnesota where he retired in 1988. Bud and Opal moved to Sun City in 1994. He was voted onto the Board of Directors for Sun City and served for several years. He was involved greatly with the Youngtown United Methodist Church as the Treasurer. Bud was an avid bowler and threw five 300 games and just for fun had a hole-in-one golfing in Sun City. He was an accomplished piano player and played the piano weekly at the Wooddale Nursing Home in Sun City where his mother resided. Bud is survived by his wife, Opal; their children, Tony, Kristina, and Susan and their spouses, Cindi, Chris, Jeff; and eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for any donations to be made to a Cancer Foundation of your choice.
