Double bassist Xavier Foley at Mesa Arts Center Feb. 10

Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St., is hosting double bassist Xavier Foley Thursday, Feb. 10.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $30 to $42. A pre-show by Zuill Bailey is at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available at MesaArtsCenter.com or call 480-644-6500 during box office business hours.
Foley is a recipient of a prestigious Avery Fisher career grant, according to a release.
He was recognized on New York WQXR’s “19 for 19” Artists to Watch list and featured on PBS Thirteen’s NYC-ARTs. As a concerto soloist, he has performed with orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and Nashville Symphony. Foley has been co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall and the Sphinx Organization for a new work entitled “For Justice and Peace” for violin, bass and string orchestra. The piece will be performed at Carnegie Hall this season as part of a program designed to promote social justice, the release states.
Classical Music Inside Out is under the artistic direction of Grammy Award-winning cellist Zuill Bailey. Bailey is underwritten by Bill Passey and Maria Silva. Educational support for Classical Music Inside Out provided by the Gloria Miner Charitable Music Foundation.
