SUN CITY - Dorothy Melton Merrifield went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017. She spent her last days at Hospice of the Valley in Glendale. with family and friends. Dorothy was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Homer and Lucy Melton. She was the youngest of five children. She was preceded in death by husband, Jack; and youngest son, Fred. She is survived by son, Steven Earl and wife, Melynda Merrifield; two grandchildren, Clinton, Lindsey and their mother, Susan. Dorothy was a shining light for her family and everyone she touched. She sold Avon products and worked at Sanger Harris for many years in Arlington, Texas. She taught Sunday School at Aldersgate UMC in Arlington, Texas. Dorothy and Jack moved and retired to Sun City in 1990. Dorothy was a member of Lakeview UMC in Sun City where she volunteered weekly for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing miniature golf, card games, dominoes and shuffleboard. She will be laid to rest at Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
