Dorothy Louden, 86Sun City West resident Dorothy "Dee" Louden died March 5, 2008 with her husband, Rod, at her side at Baptist Village Care Home, 12215 W. Bell Road, Surprise.Ms. Louden was born Sept. 2, 1921 in Hern, Texas, to Mike and Marie Cooney. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Douglas, Ariz., where Mr. Cooney, a World War I veteran, opened and operated a barber shop for 56 years. Ms. Louden's brother, Rick, her sister, Peggy, and brother, Robert, were born in Douglas where all four grew up and graduated from high school. Her brother Richard of Phoenix died in 2006.She married Rodney Louden Feb. 26, 1955, in Portland, Ore. The Loudens and their son, Joe Richard, moved to Eugene, Ore., where Rod was involved in the building and operation of the KEED Radio Station. The Loudens moved to Sun City West in October 1984.Ms. Louden was described as a devoted wife and mother. In her spare time, she was a club champion golfer, swam, taught bridge, played a mean game of poker, played tennis, snow skied and hunted with her husband.She is survived by her husband; a sister, Peggy of Phoenix; a brother, Robert of Houston; four children; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Services and a reception were held March 13 at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church.
