Joseph, 87 SUN CITY - Dorothy Joan (nee Stowe) Joseph passed away peacefully at her home at Whiterock Retirement Center in Dallas, Texas on Dec. 10, 2012. She was born in Zion, Ill. on Aug. 23, 1925 to Robert and Eva (nee Teeple) Stowe. Joan graduated from Z-BTHS in 1943. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. That same year she married Dave Joseph a young sailor from Pontiac, Michigan, who she met while he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base. Joan worked as the school nurse for the Zion Elementary Schools from 1960 until her retirement in 1986. During those years she was an active member of the community, including Christian Catholic Church (now called Christ Community Church.) A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she amazed everyone with her capacity to do for others while still setting high goals for herself, including a climb on Mt. Everest in 1985. She excelled at cooking, entertaining, gardening, Bridge, swimming, golfing and crossword puzzles. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jeff Joseph of Eugene, Oregon, Joel (Priscilla) Joseph of Libertyville, Ill., Andy (Debi) Joseph of Wheaton, Ill., Jayne (Ken) Davenport of Dallas, Texas; and her daughter-in-law, Betty (the late Marty) Joseph of Wheaton, Ill.; she will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Matt (Kelly) Joseph, Annie (Tim) Simons, Amanda Joseph, Meghan (Caleb) Wilson, Nick Joseph, Jordan (Jay) Crowley, Katie (Chris) Cichelli, Morgan (Alex) Martinez, Corinn Joseph, Dave (fiancée Kim Shorr)Joseph, Joe (Amy) Davenport, Nathan Davenport and Samantha Joseph; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Rachel, Cameron, Ariavon, Grace, Rowan, Mackenzie, Mallory, Grayson, Marty, Hopper and Brody; her brother, Bob (Caroline) Stowe; her sisters, Sherry Tietjen and Nancy Steckman; and her sister-in-law, Thelma (Marv Carrick) Severs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 61 years, David Lee Joseph; and her son, Martin David Joseph. A Memorial Service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at Advantage Funeral Home and Chapel in Youngtown, Az. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
