(Sept. 20, 1925 to Dec. 16, 2016)CENTENNIAL, Colo. - Doris Evelyn (Meehl) (Durdy) McEvoy passed away on Friday, Dec. 16, 2017, in her sleep. Doris was born in Denver, Colo., on Sept. 20, 1925, to Paul and Louise (Wall) Meehl. Her siblings were Salome (Sally) (Meehl) Struck (deceased), Paul Meehl (deceased) and Louie Meehl (deceased). Doris's childhood was spent on the family farm in Brighton, Colo. She attended Zion Lutheran Elementary School, graduated from Brighton High School and obtained a Supervisory Management Development Certificate from the University of Colorado.Doris was married to William (Bill) Durdy (deceased) in 1949 in Brighton, Colo., and they had four children whose names are Stephanie Kay, Leslie Warren, Steven Paul (deceased) and Paula Sue. She was longtime employee of over 30 years with the Mountain Bell Telephone Company. The company designated her as the Loaned Executive for several of the Mile High United Way Campaigns. Doris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Women's Auxiliary for the Volunteer Fire Department both in Brighton. Her volunteer activities included a 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and Secretary of Sunday School.Doris joined Ports of Call and spent the winters in Sun City, enjoying many activities especially travel and golf after she retired from Mountain Bell and politics in 1983. She married Doug McEvoy (deceased) in 1999 in Aurora, Colo. She added his four daughters and their families, Pamela Berry, Bonnie Hay, Lynn Hansen, Kimberly Cordova to her family.
