Doris Jean Graffa

Posted
APACHE JUNCTION - On August 6, 2010, Doris Jean Graffa was called to heaven after a long battle with diabetes. In 1970, Doris moved from Michigan to Apache Junction with her husband Brian and eight children. Along with raising eight children, she was also a well known figure working in the front office at Apache Greyhound Park. As her family grew up, working at the dog track did not keep her busy enough and she started working for Pinal County at the health department from where she retired after some 25+ years. Family was the center of her life and the love she had for them was evident even in her final hours. She is survived by her two sisters, Karen Keylon and Nancy Hewitt, both of whom live in Michigan; her eight children; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was always a fighter and taught her family how strong she could be even when she was at her weakest moments. She was a very simple hearted person and did not want a service; in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. Cards for the family can be mailed to P.O. Box 747, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.
