Canfield, 87 SUN CITY WEST - Doreen Lucille (Stockwell) Canfield passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 12, 2014. Doreen was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Manton, Mich., to Edith (Beaver) and William "Bird" Stockwell. She grew up in Manton where she would later meet her future husband. She married Fred F. Canfield, Jr. on June 23, 1945, at March Air Force Base in California shortly after his return from Europe where he was stationed during WWII. They raised four children together, living in both Southern and Northern California and Carson City, Nevada. In retirement, they traveled throughout the states in their fifth wheel for many years, before settling down again in Sun City, Ariz. Doreen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents Edith and William Stockwell, sister Leah Johnson and brother Henry Stockwell. She is survived by her husband Fred of Sun City, Ariz.; sister Eileen Ashley of Cadillac, Mich.; daughters, Julee C. Nelson (Douglas) of Gunnison, Colo., Terry K. Amaral (George) of Castro Valley, Calif., Janean C. Hansen (David) of Simi Valley, Calif.; son William Fred Canfield (Shannan) of Carson City, Nev.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. There will be a private service in Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, www.bcrfcure.org, Lewy Body Dementia Association, www.lbda.org. The family wants to thank Emeritus of Sun City West for their many years of caring for our mother and Hospice Care of the West for their special care the last few days of her life.
