“We are excited to make everyday errands easier with the Waymo Driver, offering the added peace of mind that comes with our safe and reliable technology,” stated Nicole Gavel, Waymo’s head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Waymo, in a news release.
David Richter, DoorDash’s vice president of Business and Corporate Development, said the partnership with Waymo will help build on DoorDash’ promise to give consumers consistent value, convenience and access to the best of their communities.
“Together, we’re giving members access to, and savings on, a new and delightful experience, while advancing our vision for a multi-modal autonomous future of local commerce,” Richter stated in the news release.
How it Works
To get a Waymo delivery on DoorDash, just opt into autonomous vehicle delivery when checking out and you may be matched with Waymo to deliver your order. When Waymo arrives, open the trunk with your DoorDash app and grab your items.
The partnership will begin begin by delivering orders from DashMart — DoorDash’s convenience, grocery and retail stores — with plans to include more local Phoenix merchants and a wider variety of offerings over time.
Additionally, DashPass members can enjoy a special promotional offering for Waymo’s ride-hailing service in Phoenix, San Francisco and Los Angeles to get to know the Waymo Driver firsthand.
