Donald, age 94, passed into the healing arms of Jesus on January 7, 2025, from his home in Sun City, Arizona. His beloved wife, Shirlee, was at his side only 10 days after their 73rd wedding anniversary. He was born March 31, 1930, to Harry and Florence Witt in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Don married the love of his life in December 1951, raised three daughters, pursued his passion for flying, and eventually retired as an Eastern Air Lines Captain. He will always be remembered as a wonderful, caring, and supportive husband, father, and father-in-law.
Donald was preceded in death by their daughter, Kathryn Donaldson (John), and is survived by his wife Shirlee, brother Wayne, daughters Virginia Null and Christine Couch (Phil), grandchildren Luke, Taylor, Alex, Katie, Vance, Effie, Abbey, Austen, Ryan, and great-grandchildren Deven, Kylee, Skylar, Evelynn, Kayce, and Bodhi.
Services will be held at Palm Valley Funeral Home, 10761 W Grand Ave, Sun City. Visitation 10:00am - 12:45pm. Service at 11:00am. Burial 1:30pm at the National Memorial Cemetery Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix.
