SUN CITY WEST - Mr. Donald M. Krauss, of Sun City West, died peacefully at home, with family present, on Aug. 14, 2010. He was born on Sept. 30, 1928, in Norwich, Conn., and was educated first at the Norwich Free Academy, then by the U. S. Navy in Electronics, followed by a degree in Electrical Engineering at WPI in 1952. He served on the USS Midway immediately following WWII. During his career, he worked as an electrical engineer and later as a program manager first at General Electric in New York, then at Gulton Industries in New Jersey, then finished his career at Raytheon in Rhode Island. Most importantly, he was a loving husband to Edna Skyten of Spencer, MA for 49 years and a generous and loving father to his three children, Steve, Jodi and Lisa. He loved travel, sailing, bowling and most of all, music. His piano playing gave many people great joy throughout his life. He and Edna retired to Sun City West, in 1993 and he served there in the community posse for over 10 years. He is survived by his children, Steve of Jefferson, Maine, Jodi of Bristol, R.I., and Lisa of Las Vegas, Nev. He declined a public memorial service, but his ashes, comingled with Edna's, will be buried in the family plot in Lisbon, Conn., in Spring of 2011. He would be proud if any memorials were made to either Hospice of the Valley in Arizona or the Sun City West Posse. Inquiries can be directed to Lisa Krauss at 8649 Blissville Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89145.
