Dolores Frances (Carroll) Balding

Dolores, born on August 5, 1942 in San Francisco, CA to Noel and Lorainne Carroll passed away on October 16, 2024 under Hospice Care at Royal Oaks Lifecare Facility in Sun City, AZ.
She grew up in San Francisco, graduated from college with a degree in Education and began her teaching career in Roseville, CA. In 1972 she met and married her husband Gary and moved to Juneau, AK. She taught in Juneau until 1980 when they moved to Champaign, IL where she continued teaching. Retirement for both occurred in 1996 whereupon they moved to Sun City, AZ. Her interests included quilting, weaving, travelling, bicycling (RAGBRAI, GRABAAWR, PACRACC), and swimming where she qualified and competed in several National Senior Games and Arizona Senior Olympics. She also volunteered at her Parish Church and at the St. Vincent de Paul food kitchen. Dolores was a caring and loving person devoted to her faith and helping others.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her older sister Catherine Furry. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gary, and cousins Michael (Connie) O’Dwyer and Sister Joan Mary O’Dwyer (Sisters of Carondelet).
Service will be held on Wednesday, November 27 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ at 10 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
