People want to walk their dogs? Fine. But if it does its business on my gravel, we have a problem. Walking for exercise is one thing. Turning my front yard into a canine restroom is another.
Picking up the feces? They can pretend they got it all. They didn’t. And what about the urine? Are they bringing a mop, too? Didn’t think so. People should keep their dog’s “business” at their address.
Leash laws exist for a reason. If that leash is over 6 feet, the dog isn’t “free,” it’s out of control. Dogs are considered property. When someone’s “baby” runs wild, that’s technically trespassing property on property.
Some people think it’s cute to let their dogs roam through other people’s private property. Cute? They wouldn’t relieve themselves on their neighbor’s lawn, would they? Maybe ring the doorbell next time and ask if they’d like some fresh fertilizer on the driveway!
People stay quiet because they’re afraid of confrontation. Not me. People should stand up for their rights, respectfully, of course.
Morals. Ethics. Common decency. Remember those?
And don’t get me started on the magnets. They know who they are; the ones drawing traffic with garage sales and “free stuff” signs like it’s the county fair. Then they shrug and say, “We can’t control who comes by.” Really?
Dogs barking at 6 a.m. like they’re announcing the apocalypse? Inconsiderate. Some of us like to open our windows without being serenaded by the canine choir.
Here’s a thought: try a dog park instead of the golf course or my mailbox.
At the end of the day, it’s about respect. We all should respect our neighbors, our community and the poor landscaper who’s one sniff away from quitting. And for the love of sanity, they should keep their dogs off my grass.
