Doc warns: Buyer beware with IV therapies; industry unregulated by Arizona

The ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis has inspired a revolution for home-delivered products and services — and among the many business models proliferating through the pandemic are those offering mobile and in-home intravenous therapies.

While some procedures they offer can help some patients to feel better, such companies are essentially unregulated in Arizona; and one local doctor says those services are meant for healthy people and only under proper medical supervision.

Dr. Jonathan Hornstein, an emergency room physician at Banner Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West, said if conducted properly, mobile IV therapies can be safe and helpful.
