Dismissal filed by Maricopa County Republicans in lawsuit over Prop 479

An attorney for the Maricopa County Republican Committee filed a notice of dismissal Monday of its lawsuit in Maricopa County Superior Court which effectively drops its own effort to stymie the vote approving Proposition 479, according to Jim Dettmer, a spokesman at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Proposition 479 would extend a half-cent sales tax in Maricopa County dedicated to funding transportation around the region. The tax has been approved by voters twice before, first in 1985 and again in 2004.
