Diana Taurasi questionable for Mercury’s playoff game Thursday

Mercury star Diana Taurasi is questionable to play in Thursday's single-elimination, first-round playoff game against the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. at Grand Canyon University. The 39-year-old guard is still recovering from an ankle injury that caused her to miss the final four game of the regular season.

Mercury coach Sandy Brondello initially said after the last game of the regular season, Sunday Sept. 19 that Taurasi would be good to play in Thursday's game. However, Taurasi was still not able to practice Wednesday. Speaking after Wednesday’s practice, Brondello was hopeful Taurasi would be clear to play Thursday.

“I mean, we’re always going to give it to the last minute to decide and then in the end, ultimately she knows what she’s capable of and how the ankle’s doing. It’s making progress,” Brondello said. “You know, it’s not the ideal but still with Diana than not Diana is always (better).”
