Diamondbacks’ youth field in Glendale turns 20

Posted

A youth baseball field in Glendale donated through the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation turns 20 this month.

Brian Anderson Field was dedicated on Sept. 9, 2002 at Lions Park, at 6145 W. Frier Drive. The left-handed pitcher was with the Diamondbacks from 1998 through 2002, including in their World Series winning season of 2001.

Since 2000, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has built or refurbished 43 baseball and softball fields representing a community investment of more than $10 million. The evaluation and determination of the location of each field is determined by a grant process.

Another field near Glendale, Mark Grace Thunderbolt Field at Luke Air Force Base, was dedicated in 2006.
