Developer to build on foothills, donate north Phoenix mountain land to city

A planned home development in north Phoenix plans to build homes on the foothills of a mountain, northwest of Cave Creek Road and Desert Peak Parkway, and donate the mountain land to the city of Phoenix.

The developer will donate between 130 and 150 acres of mountain land to Phoenix’s Parks and Recreation Department to be added to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, the remaining 63 to 83 acres of foothills lands on the north and south of the mountain will be developed into two disconnected housing developments, totaling 239 houses and condos.

William E. Lally, a lawyer with the Phoenix-based law firm Tiffany & Bosco representing the developer, said the bulk of the 213-acre property is at a steep enough slope that it would require special city permission as well as extensive excavation to build.
