Details emerge about Peoria city hall evacuation last December

Cause apparently tied to employee having ‘mental health episode’

Public records have revealed an evacuation of Peoria City Hall late last year appears to have been caused by a city employee who was having a mental health episode.

Police and fire officials were called to city hall Dec. 11 after receiving reports of a possible suspicious package that may have contained a bomb.

After evacuating the building and investigating, police said the suspicious package did not contain a bomb and was deemed not credible.
