TEMPE - The Desert Mountain-Sunrise Mountain rematch for the 5A state baseball title was testy and tense until the Wolves "other" big bopper broke it open.
Consecutive singles by seniors Brandon Loo and John Beasley and junior Leo Sarntaro loaded the bases in the fourth for MLB first-round prospect and Wolves senior Wes Kath. Senior reliever Alex Ramirez handled Kath with care, walking in a run.
Following a strikeout, junior Luke Moeller stepped in and delivered his second and third RBI of the afternoon on a two-run single. Kath added a home-run blast to right in the sixth to cap the 6-1 championship win at Tempe Diablo Stadium May 18.
