Desert Mission Food Bank looking for donations

HonorHealth Desert Mission Food Bank is asking the public for help with donations as its busy giving season is underway.

The food bank, on the campus of the John C. Lincoln Medical Center, 9229 N. Fourth St. in Phoenix, is looking to raise money and food donations to help distribute 2,000 turkeys and holiday groceries.

The food bank, like others in the Valley, have been hit harder as inflation and other factors caused prices to spike.

Officials said by mid-November the food bank was serving 40% more households than they were at the same time in 2023. Its October numbers more than doubled over October 2023.

In addition to turkeys, the food bank needs pasta, canned veggies and beans, dry beans and bottled water amont its most necessary items, but officials said it is looking for items across the board.
