A Laveen man is scheduled to have his initial hearing at a federal court in Florence next month after he was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in January, according to Douglas Kouffie, a Phoenix-based immigration attorney.
Marlon Parris was arrested and detained by ICE near his Laveen home on Jan. 22 over a federal felony drug conviction in which Parris served five years in a Arizona facility.
Parris is not a U.S. citizen, but a permanent U.S. resident, his attorney said. He is a native of Trinidad — an island country of the southeastern West Indies. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
