Dennis Van Winkle, 63 Dennis R. Van Winkle, 63, of Apache Junction, formerly of Las Cruces, N.M., passed away in Reno, Nev. on Nov. 14, 2007 after a short illness. Mr. Van Winkle was born in Pineville, Miss. Dec. 9, 1943 to Walter L. Van Winkle and Lavonne J. Van Winkle (Rutter). Mr. Van Winkle served his country in the US Air force from March 1963 to March 1967 as a senior airman. After the service, he was self-employed in the construction business. He moved to Apache Junction in 1991 where he met his long-time companion, Marge Walter. While living here, he became very active in the Moose fraternity, and was serving as governor of Apache Junction Lodge No. 2039 at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Apache Junction and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Guttenberg, Iowa. Mr. Van Winkle is survived by his longtime companion, Marge Walter of Apache Junction; her son, Brekka Fosdal and his family of Dyersville, Iowa; mother Lavonne Van Winkle of Las Cruces, N.M.; brother Venton Van Winkle of Apache Junction; sisters Peggy Brock, Patsy (Bobby) Miller, Sheryl Van Winkle and companion Jack Richmond, all of Las Cruces, N.M., Melissa (Joel) Cahoon of Livingston, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Van Winkle. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Apache Junction Mortuary, followed by fellowship and a remembrance luncheon at the Apache Junction Moose Lodge. The family, who was aware of Mr. Van Winkle�s love for the children at Mooseheart, request that donations be made to Moose charities in lieu of flowers; mail to Gimme 5 Campaign, c/o Moose Charities, 155 S.
