Kenneth deLoera has been named the new principal for Peralta Trail Elementary School, 10965 E. Peralta in Gold Canyon, in the Apache Junction Unified School District.
Prior to his new position deLoera worked as assistant principal at Cactus Canyon Junior High School for three years and two years as the school’s principal, according to a release.
“My goals for PTES are really to build on the success they have had in the past,” deLoera said in the release. “They are one of two ‘B’ schools in the district and I would love to see them earn an ‘A’ label. I know that is a lot of work but they are a great staff and the kids can do it.”
While deLoera is looking forward to his new school, he had high praise for the students and his colleagues at Cactus Canyon Junior High School.
“I have really enjoyed my time at CCJH and I know the kids and staff are amazing,” deLoera said. “They all work so hard and are committed to the community, I feel like they do not get enough appreciation for the work they do. That being said, I am excited to start at PTES. I have always felt that the foundations of a quality K-12 education start at the elementary level and I want to be a part of that foundational learning for students.”
deLoera is an advocate of education. His parents immigrated from Mexico and their education did not extend beyond the sixth grade.
“That is why I value education so much and understand how important it is,” said deLoera, who is the first person in his family to receive a college degree. “My parents worked hard and showed me what discipline and determination looks like.”
However, it is not all work and no play for deLoera. The administrator said he enjoys hiking and biking, as well as watching movies. He is an avid baseball fan and if his new office is decorated in the same manner as his old one at CCJH, folks can easily determine which are his favorite teams.
One fun fact is deLoera grew up in California and as a child his neighbor was singer Kenny Loggins. Whether he is living the lyrics of Loggins’ “I’m alright” or “Celebrate Me Home,” deLoera is ready for his new leadership position in the Apache Junction Unified School District.
Peralta Trail Elementary students and staff enjoy year-round desert splendor the moment they set foot on campus. The bobcat is the school’s mascot and the Bobcat Pledge, G.R.O.W.L. — grow, respect, overcome, work and lead — helps students and staff stay focused on what’s important in school and in life.
