DeFusco: Join me in voting yes on the SUSD override

Posted

My husband and I are small business owners as well as a third generation SUSD family. We appreciate the increased property values and skilled workforce that are a direct result of living and doing business within SUSD boundaries. We fully support the override that will maintain current class size ratios; all-day kindergarten (the state only funds half-day kindergarten); extracurricular activities such as music, art, world languages and athletics; technology and competitive teacher compensation.

Recently, economists at ASU’s Seidman Research Institute concluded in 2021, SUSD graduates collectively earned more than $3.2 billion, contributing $228 million in state and local taxes. Also, between FY 2017 and FY 2022, Arizona’s economy gained a cumulative $224.4 million in State GDP, $147.6 million in labor income and 2,323 job-years due to SUSD’s capital investments.

A yes vote for the override sustains our excellent property values, adept workforce and high quality of life.
