RENO, Nev. — A long, winding road trip through California and Nevada might finally be catching up with Phoenix Rising FC.
Playing their third straight road match out west on Saturday night, uncharacteristic defensive breakdowns proved the difference as Phoenix Rising fell 2-1 to Reno 1868 FC at Greater Nevada Field.
Reno scored both its goals in the second half Saturday and each tally was the result of back-line trouble for Phoenix. The loss drops Rising to 6-2-2 overall this season, good for 20 points atop Group B. Rising leads second-place Orange County by 5 points but OC has two matches in hand on Phoenix.
