Thirteen months after Deer Valley Unified School District first moved forward with building a new elementary school, that school has a name.
The DVUSD governing board at its last meeting gave the green light to supporting what came down to a community-driven survey to pick the new school’s name, mascot and colors. The campus, located at 5757 W. Inspiration Mountain Parkway, near 57th Avenue and Happy Valley Road in Phoenix, had been dubbed simply “E32” during its development.
After a close vote that drew more than 800 residents to participate, the school is named Inspiration Mountain School. Its mascot, the Knights, barely edged out the Owls, and the school’s official colors will be royal blue and black.
