Deer Valley Unified trying to avoid ‘reduction in support’ for students

Arizona joining lawsuit over education money freeze as DVUSD faces July 31 first day of school

Arizona is officially in the legal battle for more than $132 million that the Trump Administration is withholding for students, including those within Deer Valley Unified School District.

On Monday Attorney General Kris Mayes joined a coalition of 23 states suing the Administration over its “unconstitutional, unlawful, and arbitrary decision” to freeze $132,302,753 for Arizona students and approximately $6.8 billion nationwide in funding administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

The move to withhold the money comes close to the start of the new school year. Deer Valley Unified’s first day of classes is Thursday, July 31.
