Deer Valley Unified to consider adding portables due to overcrowding

New classrooms are needed at Terramar, Sierra Verde

With the need for portable classrooms on two Deer Valley Unified School District campuses due to ever-growing student populations in northern Glendale, Peoria and Phoenix, the district this week will take up the issue.

At its 7 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, March 8, the governing board will discuss and potentially approve Tempe-based architectural firm ADM Group’s pitch to relocate modular classrooms from Gavilan Peak School, at 2701 W. Memorial Drive in Anthem, to Terramar Academy, at 7000 W. Happy Valley Road, Peoria, and to Sierra Verde Elementary, at 7241 W. Rose Garden Lane, Glendale.

ADM Group’s Ben Barcon in his March 4 letter to DVUSD’s Jeff Long, in facilities management, put the estimate for the work at $474,043.
