As Arizona’s Teacher of the Year, Emmett Burnton’s whole upcoming year is about to change for him in a big way.
In his ninth year teaching AP World History and U.S. History dual enrollment at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem in the Deer Valley Unified School District, Burnton will now be in the running for National Teacher of the Year, will get a White House visit with a trip to the Oval Office, will train at Google Headquarters in California, and will learn to be an astronaut at International Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
With so much added attention, he’s got plenty to keep him grounded, though.
