Deer Valley Unified sees 208% surge in COVID cases

A dozen classrooms converted to virtual learning so far

Like the entire state, Deer Valley Unified School District is also experiencing a surge in active COVID cases.

The district’s latest totals as of Jan. 10 show 505 cases district-wide. That represents a 208% increase since the last total amount, 164, tallied less than a month ago on Dec. 13.

Arizona has seen a similar a surge, driven by the omicron variant. The Arizona Department of Health Services showed 18,844 COVID cases on Jan. 5, which is a dramatic increase from the 3,893 cases measured just four days earlier.
