Deer Valley Unified School District on Monday learned it will not have to slice $32.3 million from its budget for this current academic year.
At the state legislature, the Senate by a 23-6 margin voted to give final approval to waiving the voter-approved constitutional cap on K-12 spending. The move, which is good for just the balance of this school year, will prevent cuts estimated at more than $1.1 billion statewide between now and June 30, or about 16% of each school district’s current spending.
