Deer Valley Unified School District may still call for a maintenance and operations budget override vote on this November’s ballot, but the percentage request could change.
The existing 15% M&O override, first approved by voters in 1991, provides for the district’s operating resources, including staff salaries. After voters the past two years elected to discontinue the override funding, that money will be phased out in three $11 million budget cuts to the district over the next three fiscal years, starting with the first for the 2025-26 academic year.
Voters can authorize the district to exceed the amount of the budget otherwise allowed by the state by 15%.
