Deer Valley Unified considering adding override vote to November ballot

First phase of ‘sunsetting’ M&O cuts coming this year

With full funding about to expire on its maintenance and operations budget override, Deer Valley Unified School District will look to ask voters for a third straight year for that additional money.

At its Tuesday meeting this week, the governing board will discuss calling for a special budget override election this November.

The existing 15% M&O override, first approved by voters in 1991, provides for some the district’s operating resources, including staff salaries. Voters can authorize the district to exceed the amount of the budget otherwise allowed by the state by 15%.
