There won’t be a need to add staffing with regards to some Deer Valley Unified School District classrooms approaching their limit of maximum students.
Preliminary numbers shared during the Feb. 25 governing board meeting showed five classrooms throughout the district’s 42 schools are approaching the threshold of allowable students before action must be taken per policy, which could include adding another teacher to a classroom to balance the new class load.
The bad news, district human resources director Jenna Moffitt said during the March 11 governing board meeting, is the original estimate of classrooms impacted is now six, not the five originally discussed Feb. 25. The good news, though, is that each of those impacted classrooms shows growth of just one student each.
