Deer Valley Unified board member called on to resign after ‘heil’ remarks, gesture

Kim Fisher extended an alleged Nazi salute to board president at conclusion of Tuesday meeting

The fallout continues with calls for one Deer Valley Unified School District governing board member to resign after she appeared to make  a Nazi salute toward the board president and said “heil heil” at the conclusion of Tuesday night’s public meeting.

The gesture and comment came just moments before Board President Paul Carver gaveled to adjourn the meeting. An informal talk about scheduling an upcoming board study session was evolving into a formal discussion, at which time Superintendent Curtis Finch interjected that by law the board could not entertain the discussion since it was not an agenda item.

Board member Kim Fisher continued before motions were raised to adjourn the meeting. With Carver seconding the motion, Fisher stretched out her right arm with her palm facing down and fingers pointed while saying “heil heil” toward Carver, who then adjourned the meeting.
