Going into the first full Section 7 girls basketball weekend, Deer Valley and Kellis each knew they would have one of the best point guards in the Mayo Clinic bracket.
Through four games, starting Thursday afternoon, both teams were getting an idea of what new pieces were fitting around their floor generals. Deer Valley had an advantage in that it pairs a more classical ball distriution point guard in Izzy Majarucon with leading returning scorer, fellow senior guard Diamond Stevenson.
More than anything, the Skyhawks are using the summer to figure out a different defensive approach for the winter, since elite rim protector and rebounder Michaela Lee graduated.
