West Valley high school students march, protest ICE killings

Arizona students add to growing numbers of demonstrations over immigration policies

With growing unrest nationwide over ICE policies and actions, students are among those speaking out, including in Glendale on Tuesday.

A couple hundred students from Deer Valley High School, at 51st Avenue and Union Hills Drive on the Glendale-Phoenix border, peacefully marched off campus and down public sidewalks around 10 a.m. carrying signs and chanting in unison. The students were protesting measures ICE has taken that have resulted in the controversial deaths of two people in Minnesota this month.

Many cars driving past the group along 51st Avenue honked and waved at the students’ call-and-response.
