The Deer Valley High School theatre department is applying 1940s messages to today’s challenges.
The actors are taking up “Rosie The Riveter,” which tells the story of Rosie O’Connell who is instrumental in turning Eddie’s Autos into a plant to manufacture airplane parts during World War II. The image of Rosie became a cultural icon and a symbol of women’s political, social and economic equality, and later became the subject of a celebrated Hollywood movie musical.
The DVHS theatre students as a cast of 18 will present “Rosie” in the performing arts center later this month and will tap into messages of the classic drama written by Trey Clarkson that remain relevant today.
